OB5000 "two-box" Portable Microwave System

The OB5000 is a portable “two-box” high capacity digital microwave transmit and receive system providing the utmost in flexibility for wireless terrestrial communications. It incorporates two different digital modulation architectures in a single, integrated system. The user has the ability to select between robust COFDM multicarrier or high capacity data-rate Single Carrier Modulation formats at the touch of a button. The OB5000 reduces the need for multiple microwave systems, thereby minimizing capital investment and provides “on-the-fly” flexibility for rapid deployment in a compact modular design.

  • SCM single carrier modulation (QPSK to 64 QAM)
  • 70 MHz IF coax or triax (control unit to RF head) interconnection up to 200m (standard), 600 m (optional)
  • AC (120/240 Vac) and DC (11 – 36 Vdc) power inputs with AC failover switching
  • RF frequency bands supported between 2 GHz and 13 GHz
  • Firmware updates via integrated USB port
  • Encoding/Decoding interfaces include:
    • Analog composite video (SD, opt. HD 4:2:0/4:2:2)
    • SDI (SMPTE 259)/ (shared port for ASI)
    • HD SDI (SMPTE 292M)
    • four audio subcarriers (analog)
    • AES/EBU digital audio (unbalanced, balanced future release)
    • ASI (Remux)
  • Data (multiplexed) interfaces include:
    • ASI (270 Mbps) or DS3/E3 (G.703) on data input #1
    • ASI (270 Mbps) or SPMTE 310M on data input #2
    • T1/E1 or Ethernet (IEEE 802.3) via RJ-45
    • Wayside data to 38.4 Kbps via DB-9 (RS-232)
