APS5000 1:1 SHF Protection Switch  The APS5000 is a compact ½ rack width 1RU SHF Protection Switch covering C through to DBS TX Bands. The APS5000 is typically, but not exclusively, used with a pair of AUC58xx Advent BUCs to provide 1:1 protection. This is normally under control from a ASC5000 System Controller although the APS can function “stand-alone”.
The APS5000 takes the output of the SHF Switch and splits this two ways for presentation to a pair of redundant HPAs. In Phase-Combined Systems one of these output paths is routed through a phase shifter allowing for phase adjustment of the path through one HPA to enable phase combining of the HPA high power outputs using a CRPC or Hybrid Combiner. The APS5000 is typically powered from the redundant AUC58xx BUCs and takes in the Status Alarms of the BUCs and System HPAs. The control is via a serial link to a ASC5000.
